The new MT-CONNECT medical technology exhibition (21-22 June 2017) and the MedTech Summit are converging – this has become a fact, as early as three months before the actual event: "We have succeeded in developing a trade fair from the exhibition accompanying the MedTech Summit", says MT-CONNECT Exhibition Manager, Alexander Stein. "A great many exhibitors are taking part for the first time, in addition to those who have already exhibited in past years. Many new joint stands, division into two trade fair halls, an international focus and a close contentual connection between the congress and events at the exhibition show that the idea of a new topclass event for medical technology does work."

MT-CONNECT offers a comprehensive programme for suppliers and manufacturers of medical technology products. MT-CONNECT exhibitors are small and medium-sized enterprises and also global leaders in medical technology. The international character of the sector becomes apparent at the large joint stands: not only Medical Mountains (Baden-Württemberg) and Thuringia have registered, Styria (Austria), the Brainport Industries network (Netherlands) and the Saitama region (Japan) have also done so. Bavarian Medical Valley is also present at MT-CONNECT with representatives of its partners from Brazil, the US and China. Representatives from federal and state ministries are also demonstrating their commitment.

With brief presentations and discussion forums on topics relevant to the market, the trade fair forum highlights its claim of being a network platform. Selected exhibitors are also presenting their innovative products and services in brief pitches in the trade show forum.

MedTech Summit: Congress and Partnering

The MedTech Summit, one of the biggest medical technology congresses in Europe, has around 1,000 participants. It acts as a bridge between research and application. "We intend to establish the congress as a key event in Europe. With a first-class programme and excellent speakers from all over Europe, we will be making the considerable innovation density and dynamics in medical technology vivid and tangible," says Dr. Matthias Schier, Managing Director of the MedTech Pharma e.V. Forum. With 60 talks, the congress programme addresses all the most recent hot topics. A few programme highlights: Prof. Dr. Okan Ekinci of Siemens Healthineers in Erlangen and Philipp Bell, CEO with iThera Medical GmbH in Munich, will speak about medical imaging. Prof. Dr. Thomas Neumuth of the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery of Leipzig University will be talking about operating theatres of the future. Current research projects on the question of "mobile health" will be presented by Prof. Dr. Jochen Klucken from Erlangen University Clinic. Dr. Michiel Sprenger from the Nationaal ICT Instituut in de Zorg in Den Haag will report on the e-health infrastructure in the Netherlands. Progress with robotics and possibilities of using robotics in rehab and care are the subject of the session with Prof. Robert Riener from ETH University in Zürich.

This year the MedTech Summit and MT-CONNECT will also include the MedTech Pharma Forum partnering event, which as been exceptionally successful for many years. A software program makes it easy to agree on talks at the event. The software tool facilitates efficient B2B networking between all the MedTech Summit participants as well as MT-CONNECT exhibitors and visitors. Timed in 30-minute cycles, users can thus spend a perfectly utilised day – knowledge gained and valuable contacts guaranteed.

MT-CONNECT and the MedTech Summit will for the first time be held together at the Exhibition Centre in Nuremberg on 21 and 22 June 2017. A modern congress area is available for the MedTech Summit in NCC Mitte. Right next to the congress area are halls 10.0 and 10.1, which house the trade fair and offer space for the partnering event and informal exchanges of ideas and information in several catering areas.
