Around 200 exhibitors, 50 talks during the congress, many presentations in the exhibition forum and the Innovation Market Place – these are the key details of the new event combination in Nuremberg. MT-CONNECT, the new international exhibition for the supply and manufacturing areas of medical technology, and the international congress MedTechSummit are bringing together companies, developers, scientists and users at the Nuremberg trade show (NürnbergMesse) on 21 and 22 June. "In addition to the major topic of digitalisation, the Medical Devices Regulation, valid throughout Europe and published a few days ago, will also be much talked about in the trade show halls," says organiser Alexander Stein. Dr. Matthias Schier, Managing Director of the network Forum MedTech Pharma, holds a similar view: "There is currently a very great need for information, given the big changes in the registration of medical products. We look forward to exciting presentations and intensive discussion at the trade show and during the congress."

The new medical devices regulation was published at the beginning of May. In future, medical products will have to undergo changed authorisation procedures since higher requirements for clinical data and expensive new or supplemented obligations to report have been put in place. "Some of the changes are extremely complex. Medium-sized companies in particular are facing a huge challenge. This is where MT-CONNECT and the MedTech Summit are raising a genuine awareness among those involved," says Alexander Stein.

Innovation meets industry at the Innovation Market Place

Groups of researchers, service organisations and start-ups are being given their own stage to present innovations and developments at the MT-CONNECT Innovation Market Place. Some of the projects are on the verge of commercialisation, while others are still seeking to raise capital or are working on the registration of a medical product. The Innovation Market Place offers information and networking opportunities and opens up contacts to potential development and industrial partners, with topics covering everything from wound care to big data analyses, implants, therapeutic gases, patent consulting and further education.

Innovation meets user at the MedTech Summit

The MedTech Summit, which was initiated by the MedTech Pharma forum as early as in 2008, is considered to be one of the most significant medical technology congresses in Europe: "We make the innovation density and dynamics in medical technology vivid and tangible," says Matthias Schier. "In doing so, we build a bridge between development and clinical application." With more than 50 talks and presentations, the congress programme addresses all the most recent topics under discussion: current developments in imaging, OPs of the future, research projects on "Mobile Health" or on robotics in rehab and care are only examples from the international panel of speakers.

The partnering event, an outstandingly successful event format bringing together exhibitors and congress and trade show visitors in 30-minute cycles promotes an exchange of information among all the participants. A software program makes it easy and fast to make arrangements for talks at the event beforehand.

New support from the BVMed

As of now, the BVMed, the German Medical Technology Association, is also supporting the MT-CONNECT, bringing its expertise into the event in the Expert Advisory Panel. The Advisory Panel gives advice to the Nuremberg Trade Show, establishes contacts and cooperates in designing the content of the event. Besides the BVMed, the ZVEI German Association of the Electromedical Engineering Industry, the IVAM – the German Association for Microtechnology – the MedTech Pharma forum, the Medical Valley EMN and the two companies Siemens Healthineers and Peter Brehm are also members of the Expert Advisory Panel.

About MT-CONNECT and the MedTech Summit

MT-CONNECT is the exhibition for all the supply and manufacturing areas of medical technology. As a platform for the industry, MT-CONNECT pools expertise from all the sub-areas of medical technology, from technology and production to financing, marketing and regulatory affairs. This is where suppliers, manufacturers and service organisations as well as research and education institutions in the medical technology industry meet to exchange ideas. The international MedTech Summit congress is being held at the same time, in the immediate vicinity of MT-CONNECT. For many years now, the focal topics of the congress programme have been medical technologies, diagnostics, digitisation and mobile health. Besides technological contents, the congress also places a strong emphasis on innovation management and regulatory affairs. The honorary sponsor of MT-CONNECT and the MedTech Summit is the MedTech Pharma e.V. Forum, the largest healthcare industry network in Germany and Europe.
