MT-CONNECT and the international congress MedTech Summit – Congress and Partnering, to be held in Nuremberg on 11-12 April, will bring together the drivers of innovation in medical technology to share ideas and information. “At the Innovation Market Place alone, about 30 young companies and service firms will present their ideas, concepts and prototypes,” says Director of Exhibitions Alexander Stein. “MedTech Summit provides a platform to discuss how industry innovations can be rigorously aligned with clinical needs,” adds Dr Matthias Schier, CEO of Forum MedTech Pharma e.V., honorary sponsor of the event.
Innovation Market Place
Medical Valley and EIT Health look after the Innovation Market Place special display area at the exhibition, a platform for many different topics relating to starting up a new business. This is where young companies and university research groups introduce their latest developments, and start-ups can seize the opportunity to present prototypes and series-ready products to a broad professional audience, in some cases for the first time.
Bavaria and the Federal Government on the spot
Entities such as the Bayerische Forschungs- und Innovationsagentur (Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency), Bayern Innovativ and the Bayerische Forschungsstiftung (Bavarian Research Foundation) will provide details about location policy and promotion of the medical technology industry in Bavaria and in Germany as a whole. The Federal Government will also be present at MT-CONNECT with a large pavilion of its own, where it will offer information on promoting innovation and research.
Innovations in healthcare
This year MedTech Pharma, honorary sponsor of MT-CONNECT and the MedTech Summit, can look back on 20 years of networking activity. Since it was established in 1998, it has grown to be Europe’s largest information and networking platform, successfully bringing industry and clinical users together. The presentation by the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Prof. Thomas Schildhauer, Head of the Department of Surgery, University Hospital Bergmannsheil, Bochum, carries on this tradition. His congress keynote will deal with the question, “Innovations in healthcare – in harmony with clinical needs?” He will call for even closer dialogue between industry and clinical practice, to ensure that innovations are rigorously aligned with the needs of medical care and ideal hospital workflows. This will be complemented by the presentation given by Prof. Georg Duda, Director of the Julius Wolff Institute of Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, on research trends in medical technology, including an outline of how new technological opportunities are transforming healthcare.
